As the way by using keyboard shortcut to shutdown the computer, another way is to create desktop shortcut for these menus in your Windows 8 computer. This tutorial will walk you through the process of creating shortcut for various power options, like shortcut to shutdown, restart, log off, and sleep.
Right click on a empty area on your desktop, and then click new > shortcut
A create shortcut Window will be open. In the wizard, type shutdown.exe -s -t 00. And click Next.
Name the shortcut as Shutdown, and click Finish.
Then select appropriate icon for it.
[To give icon: right click on the shortcut that you have created > properties > shortcut tab > click on change icosn button, select one icon from the icon list, and click OK]
Create SHUTDOWN shortcut

To create SLEEP shortcut
In the first box of create shortcut wizard, type Rundll32.exe Powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Sleep, and name the shortcut as Sleep and select appropriate icon for the shortcut.
